ALG has truly been an answer to my prayers ...

quote-leftMy name is Rachel Chisholm and I am a single mother. After 18 years, in my previous job, I found myself laid off. There was no chance of recall. My and my daughter’s futures were completely up in the air, at that point. I had no idea where to go, or what to do. I heard there was going to be a job fair, at my local community center. I decided that would be a good starting point. My decision proved correct. One of the first tables I approached was ALG. The representative (Mike S.) explained that ALG was designed for people exactly like me. Their curriculum and class schedule was worked for the professional adult. I set up an interview. Prior to my scheduled interview, I continued to research ALG, on my own. I learned that ALG was everything Mike had said and more. By the time of my interview, I was quite excited. I knew I was most interested in their CMAA program. When I did meet with Mike, he answered all my questions and put me on the path to getting financial assistance that completely covered my tuition. There was nothing in my way. The CMAA course, itself, was amazing. There is so much information covered in just a few weeks. However, due to the way the courses are broken down and the very talented instructor I had (Barb), I was able to easily learn and retain what I needed to know. ALG has truly been an answer to my prayers. I am confident in my new skills and have no doubt that I will be able to find work, in my chosen field. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

*** UPDATE *** I just wanted you to know, that I got a job today. I have accepted an offer from Edgepark Medical Supplies, in their benefits verification department. Thank you, so much, for all you have done.

Thank you for a chance of a lifetime!

quote-leftThis is to thank everyone for their assistance you gave me through my training and work experience and to inform everyone that I was hired at University Hospital (UH) Case Medical Center Main Campus as a Control Desk Coordinator in the Prentiss Operating Room (OR) with coordination with the Prentiss OR team, vendors and other UH staff members. Tasks include scheduling procedures called in from other UH medical centers, coordinating doctors schedules with resolving schedule conflicts, operating rooms usage, delegating medical supplies utilization with OR checklist designed for the OR procedures. No interaction with patients or families just OR personnel. My certifications in medical terminology, medical administrative, and electric health records is what made me a great candidate for this job. Start date August 29, 2011 This job is similar to the position I held at the Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping Plant except it's medical multi-tasking instead of project. What landed the job was the medical terminology with being capable of typing 57 wpm and not to forget the computer knowledge, these were the key requirements. Again thank you for a chance of a lifetime, in a lifetimes chance. I've learned an incredible amount of knowledge in the past year with the United Labor Agency and various One Stops. Not to forget the Certification from ALG Technology prodived by the TAA funding. Most of all thank God for this new journey and experience. I will always embrace knowledge and the will to learn.

ALG opened a whole new area of knowledge for me ...

quote-leftAfter many months of trying to get a job, I decided that going back to school was the smartest thing to do with the economy the way it was. After two weeks of searching for a good place to get re-skilled, I was lucky to find that ALG had a training center in the area. I was able to get funding from the WIA program, which paid for everything. I was able to take classes for two of the fastest growing fields in Northeastern Ohio - certified medical administrative assistant and electronic health records. After the classes I took the certification exams for both, and passed both. I owe this to the terrific instructors - Carisa, Barb and Brenda. The classroom size was small and I received lots of personal attention. I feel confident in being able to get a job with the training from ALG. The ALG school is one of the best things that has happened to the County in a very long time. Everyone at the school is very professional and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you are learning and satisfied. I recommend ALG to anyone who is thinking about going back to school. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to attend there. I wish ALG all the best in the future and I'm proud to have been there.

I am so pleased to have identified ALG as my school of choice.

quote-leftI found myself at a crossroads when my employer announced the closing of our facility in the spring of 2010. The event was all too familiar, I had gone through a similar job loss about five years earlier. I knew my business degree and work experience would read well on a resume, but I was looking to change directions. I recognized the employment growth of the future is in the field of Healthcare. I was not in a position to go back to school for an extended period of time. But, I needed to broaden my knowledge base and plan for the next chapter of my life. I researched several community colleges and various training programs. I am so pleased to have identified ALG as my school of choice. The 17 week Health Information Specialist Course was exactly what I needed! The course provided me with an accelerated education in Medical Terminology, Medical Administrative Assisting, Electronic Health Records and Billing and Coding. I knew from my first day in class when I had the pleasure of meeting the Medical Terminology instructor Barb Root that I had made the right decision. Later, I was pleased to learn that Barb would also be facilitating my course work in Medical Administrative Assisting and Electronic Health Records. I had worked in corporate training a few years back, so I am often overly critical of others in training/education. I know it takes a special person to teach a diverse group of people, capture everyone's attention, inspire everyone to learn and challenge and motivate people to be their best. Barb Root is the total package! Not only is Barb an exceptional educator, she is a caring thoughtful person who takes great pride in the education provided at ALG. The education I received at ALG was the perfect compliment to my resume. I am pleased to announce that I have landed a great career in the field of Healthcare with CVS/Caremark, working with Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Programs. The opportunities appear to be abundant. Thank you once again!

I could not be more pleased with ALG ...

quote-leftI have had 2 classes with Andrea - Advanced Excel and just recently Advanced Word. I recently graduated from Notre Dame College with a BA in Business which means I have taken a lot of computer classes. I have learned more in Andrea’s classes than I have learned in the last 4 years at college. And of course I paid a lot more for college. Andrea is knowledgeable of her material and more so she has great teaching abilities. She is truly an asset to ALG. I was extremely impressed when we came across some glitches with our software and the way Andrea pulled us out of it. Talk about knowing your material. I must tell you I have truly learned and been educated from her classes and I love her teaching abilities. It is truly a plus attending her classes.

All of my course experiences have been positive ones ...

quote-leftI have attended classes at ALG over the years, and now I have the experience of coordinating classes here at Nook. All of my course experiences have been positive ones. However, this email is to applaud your trainer, Andrea. I had not had the pleasure of sitting in on one of Andrea's classes in the past, but the feedback from my co-workers about her training style was tremendous! They were very enthusiastic about her methods, keeping them engaged, and answering their many questions, even if they may not have been addressed in the text book.

She did a great job – very professional!

quote-leftI want to thank Andrea for taking time (after work hours) on such short notice to help me solve a problem in Dreamweaver so I was able to meet my deadline of having to go “live”! She did a great job – very professional!
