About Us

ALG was founded in 1981 as a computer consulting firm to help small businesses to begin using a new technology - the personal computer. At that time, the most popular PC's were Radio Shack, KayPro, Osborne and Compaq. Six months later IBM introduced it's first PC, and so began the IT revolution.
After installing two PC's and WordPerfect word processing software for a downtown law firm, the client immediately asked for help with how to use it. And so began the training division of ALG.
Flash forward to the new millenium. ALG is now one of the oldest and most respected technology and training firms in Northeast Ohio. Two offices, 14 training centers, and more than 7,000 clients/students. Our secret? We treat each one as if it is our only relationship.

Cary M. Root founded and continues to run ALG as its president. He has over 40 years of experience in the information technology and training fields as well as Bachelors and Masters degrees from Purdue University. Cary previously worked at Burroughs Corporation in Detroit as a systems analyst, and at Cleveland Consulting Associates in Beachwood as the partner in charge of IT. He is on the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau, Ohio Commerce Bank, Jewish Family Service Association, the BBB Educational Foundation and the Solon Chamber of Commerce. In addition he volunteers his IT experience with Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Council of Better Business Bureaus in Arlington, Virginia, Children's Tumor Foundation, and Breakthrough Charter Schools.
